SAO PAULO – Saturday night’s TUF Brazil 3 Finale event drew an announced attendance of 8,986.

UFC executive Grace Tourinho announced the figure at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended.

The TUF Brazil 3 Finale took place at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 after prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Stipe Miocic (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) needed just 35 seconds to stop Fabio Maldonado (21-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC) in the heavyweight main event. Maldonado took the fight on short notice and moved up from light heavyweight to take Junior dos Santos’ place, but Miocic made short work of him with a TKO.

The event was the UFC’s third in Brazil so far in 2014, and there are four more planned for the calendar year. The first two events were “Fight Night” cards in Jaragua do Sul and Natal. And though the early crowd in Sao Paulo was sparse, the event wound up drawing more than either of those two cards. UFC Fight Night 36 in Jaragua do Sul drew 7,511 fans, while UFC Fight Night 38 in Natal drew 6,828 in attendance.
