It is fair to say Glover Teixeira( 33- 8) has received what he deserves despite the unexpected turn of light heavyweight events. Jiri Prochazka injured his shoulder, which prevented him from engaging in his first title fight and rematch with him. Teixeira was offered Magomed Ankalaev as a replacement after the champion valiantly vacated the position. He declined to engage in combat, which prompted Jan Blachowicz to intervene and make Teixeira watch as a new champion emerged. He was fortunate that the fight ended in a draw and that this new title fight has now taken place.
Jamahal Hill( 11- 1( 1)) seizes the chance to move up the line. He is having a fantastic run, earning three bonuses along the way. Paul Craig( 2021), who was caught in an armbar, dislocated his elbow, resulting in a TKO and Hill's only loss. The new contender, however, has resurfaced in style, defeating Thiago Santos( 2022), Jimmy Crute( 2021), and Johnny Walker( 1922).
They are 12 years old and have 15 years of combined professional experience. Teixeira has 41 bouts and three title fights under his belt, whereas Hill is an up-and-coming young gun with a lot more potential to fill.
Even though Prochazka defeated him, the torch will eventually pass, and thanks to his tenacity in boxing and grappling, he is unquestionably still at the top of the food chain. Hill is a step back in the competition after he took the current champion to the wire.
Despite this, Hill hits like a truck and the miles are running out. Additionally, he will have a three-inch reach and an advantage of two inches in height. He will need every inch as long as he keeps the distance and prevails in this battle.
Teixeira is strong in the clinch, has dirty boxing that hurts his pocket, and will be in his wheelhouse if the fight goes to the mat. It is very unexpected to see Hill as the favorite given the skill set and the five-round experience.
Although Teixeira is still incredibly strong, we believe Hill has the speed and strength to defeat him. Problems will arise from his southpaw stance jab, and if he lightens straight down the pipe, hooks could easily knock the veteran to the ground.
He must, however, complete it soon. In order to avoid the early storm, close the gap, clinch together, and drag Hill to the canvas, we are supporting the Brazilian. His jiu-jitsu will then appear to be a class above.
