LAS VEGAS – After a layoff of nearly three years due to injuries and surgeries, Dominick Cruz made a triumphant return on Saturday night.
Cruz (20-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) stopped Takeya Mizugaki (20-8-2 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in the first round to close out the preliminary card of UFC 178 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. After the fight, UFC President Dana White said Cruz, the former bantamweight champion who had his title stripped due to the lengthy layoff, will get the next title shot against champ T.J. Dillashaw.
