January’s UFC 195 lineup continues to take shape with another significant welterweight matchup.

Stephen Thompson (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who’s ranked No. 14 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA welterweight rankings, is now slated to fight honorable mention Neil Magny (16-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) at the event, officials today announced.

UFC 195 takes place Jan. 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Thompson looks to continue his move into title contention. Since a decision loss to tough vet Matt Brown in 2012, the karate-based “Wonderboy” has won five consecutive fights, three via knockout. Most recently, the 32-year-old earned a fight-night bonus for his spinning-kick knockout of Jake Ellenberger.

Magny recently was riding a seven-fight UFC winning streak that had him in title contention. Although the 28-year-old, who appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter 16,” ultimately suffered a submission loss to Demian Maia, he rebounded with a 22-day turnaround and earned a split-decision defeat over Erick Silva in August.

The latest UFC 195 lineup now includes:

  • Champ Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit – for welterweight title
  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Stipe Miocic
  • Neil Magny vs. Stephen Thompson
  • Lorenz Larkin vs. Albert Tumenov
  • Drew Dober vs. Erik Koch
  • Edgar Garcia vs. Sheldon Westcott
