A welterweight bout between Sergio Moraes (7-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Neil Magny (8-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is the latest addition to August’s UFC 163 lineup.
Globo first reported the bout, though UFC officials haven’t made a formal announcement.
UFC 163 takes place Aug. 3 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.
Moraes vs. Magny likely will be part of the prelims.
Moraes, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil,” fights for the first time since October, when he submitted fellow Brazilian Renee Forte at UFC 153. Prior to that, he made his official UFC debut and suffered a decision loss to Cezar Ferreira. The world champion grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, who’s been on the mend following a knee injury in his most recent bout, now fights in his home country for the third time under the UFC banner.
Magny, meanwhile, looks to build off his UFC-debut win over Jon Manley at UFC 157 earlier this year. The “TUF 16? semifinalist and Torres MMA fighter, who defeated the likes of Bristol Marunde and Cameron Diffley on the reality show, fights outside of the U.S. for the first time in his career.
