Another bout is in the works for the UFC’s May return to Brazil.
Brazil’s own Rodrigo Damm (12-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will meet Rashid Magomedov (17-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 42, Damm’s PR team announced on Wednesday.
UFC Fight Night 42, which serves as the finale to “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3,” takes place May 31 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. In the headliner, “TUF: Brazil 3? coaches Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva square off in a grudge match.
Damm returned to lightweight in February and picked up a unanimous decision win over Ivan Jorge at UFC Fight Night 36 in Brazil. That gave him two straight wins after a split-decision win over Mizuto Hirota in June 2013 at featherweight.
Magomedov made his UFC debut in February at UFC 169 in Newark, N.J. The former M-1 Global welterweight champion dropped down to lightweight and took a unanimous decision from Tony Martin and ran his winning streak to nine fights.
