After Gervonta Davis stopped Frank Martin with an eight-round TKO back in June, all eyes have been on the future. What will Gervonta Davis’ next fight be? Will a Gervonta Davis next fight be an option?
Gervonta Davis’s fights are likely to be followed by many boxing experts, sports betting sites, and TV broadcasters. Those interested in placing bets on these potential matchups can check the sports betting legal states. Who are the most likely options for his next fight?
If there is going to be a Gervonta Davis next fight 2024 option, Shakur Stevenson is going to be up there. Stevenson immediately took to X after Davis’ win and spoke as if there were something in the works for a fight between the two.
Stevenson and Davis have gone back and forth on social media. It would certainly be a fight, given Gervonta Davis’ last fight, but it’s unclear what it would take to bring the two together. Fighters seem to be avoiding Stevenson, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Gervonta Davis go in another direction.
Lopez would make for an excellent option for Gervonta Davis’ next fight. His demands are lofty, which could prevent the fight from happening, but Lopez is as exciting a potential opponent for Gervonta Davis as there is out there. The trouble is that Lopez recently moved up to 140 pounds, so Davis would have to do the same.
Given that Tank’s other rivals, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, have already made the jump, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. Having ESPN potentially backing the fight could make it a bigger deal. It would be a major draw for the two to meet.
For fans of pure boxing, it might be most enticing for Gervonta Davis to make his next bout against Vasili Lomachenko. The latter regained the world title in May after his stoppage of George Kambosos. If the two met, there is a chance of unifying their two belts at 135 pounds.
There would be a lot at stake for Lomachenko as well. He could further cement a burgeoning legacy if he could be the first to defeat Davis. That said, Lomachenko wouldn’t be likely to be ready for a fight with Davis before the end of 2024.
Rounding out the list is Zepeda, with a record of 30-0 with 260 Kos. That said, Zepeda seems to get overlooked when it comes to talking about the top fighters in his division. With the proper promotion, however, Zepeda could make for an excellent underdog, especially with his American-Mexican heritage.
There is also a rivalry between Davis’ advisor, Leonard Ellerbe, and Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions. That could only fuel the anticipation and provide another element of drama to an already enticing fight. Whoever is next, eyes will be on the fight for sure.
