Hamdy Abdelwahab gets a 2-year suspension by USADA for testing positive for methenolone and it's metabolite in samples
collected July 30th and August 27th. The substance he took is a prohibited steroid by USADA and he will be out of action until at least
July 30th 2024.
Hamdy was 6-0 in MMA but his last win over DonTale Mayes gets overturned to a no contest. July 30th was the date of the fight and
the date of his first violation. Hamdy was tested 3 times last year and failed 2 of them. He competed in the 2016 Olympic games in Greco
Roman wrestling for Egypt. He turned 30 a couple weeks back.
This is the first USADA suspension of this year.
Since the UFC moved Vera vs Sandhagen to another date, now Taila Santos vs Erin Blanchfield is the main event of the Feb 18th card.
They are now going to need to adjust to fighting a 5 round fight as opposed to a 3 rounder. Santos is coming off a title shot, if Blanchfield
wins she could be next in line to get one.
