Robert Whittaker’s not Fat, He’s a Contender
Robert Whittaker's move to light heavyweight sparked plenty of discussion about his appearance, but Chael Sonnen believes people are missing the bigger picture.
Chael explains why adding quality muscle takes years—not weeks—and points to Jon Jones as the perfect example. Jones spent three years adding just a handful of pounds before moving to heavyweight, while Whittaker jumped to 205 without taking any time off because he simply wanted to keep competing.
More importantly, Chael argues that former champions who successfully move up in weight have historically been rewarded with an immediate path to another title. Instead of criticizing Whittaker's physique, the conversation should be about where he belongs in the light heavyweight title picture.
