Undefeated light welterweight Eddie Ramirez faced a more experienced Eddie Ramirez in a 10 round bout on PBC on ESPN July 9, 2016. Ramirez was fighting to protect his undefeated record while Roman took the fight in very short notice. Considering that he didn't have a full training camp to prepare for this fight, he showed true grit. Ramirez however performed exceptionally and had the endurance to fight 10 full rounds. He was able to hurt Roman in later rounds with perfectly timed hooks and his ability to outpace his opponent moved him ahead on the score cards. Roman woke up in the final round. Landing left hooks to the body and head of Ramirez, but it was too little too late. Ramirez outperformed Roman, throwing punches in bunches which landed him the UD at the end of the night.
