Sean Sheehan is back with another interview as he speaks with Adel Altamimi, who will compete against Tom Mowbray in a super welterweight bout at BKB 60 on Oct. 10 at Utilita Arena Newcastle. Born and raised in Iraq, Adel discovered martial arts as a child, beginning karate at just 9 years old. (1:33) Adel worked as a convoy driver contracted to the U.S. Marines during the war, putting him in one of the world's most dangerous environments. (5:29) During his time in Iraq, Adel was kidnapped by Al-Qaeda and faced execution before being rescued by U.S. Marines. (7:27) After leaving Iraq, Adel rebuilt his life in the U.S. and pursued the martial arts career he had dreamed about since childhood. (8:46) Along the way, Adel became a trainer and close friend of Chris Pratt, who famously walked him to the cage and stood in his corner for his Bellator debut. (11:30) Now undefeated in BKB at 3-0 with three knockouts, Adel heads to Newcastle on Oct. 10 to face Tom Mowbray at BKB 60. (13:33)
