MMA DIRT will be cageside tonight at The Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for World Series of Fighting 3 “Fitch vs. Burkman”. Check back here all night long for live fight results from Sin City.

 

Update: 6PM- The Joint is starting to fill up nicely. WSOF outdid themselves on this one. Good atmosphere, smoking ring girls, NBC Sports Network on hand- This is MMA at its finest....

 

Update: 7:55PM- All udercard bouts go the distance. Next up NBC portion...lets hope for some stoppages.

Update:9:20PM- Carl stopped Steele quick for a finish this fight needed. Next up, main event.

Update: 9:43PM: Burkman is a beast!

Main Bouts (on NBC Sports Network):

  

Josh Burkman (26-9) defeated Jon Fitch (24-6-1) by a jaw dropping 1st round  guillotine choke-out...41 seconds.

  

Steve Carl (20-3) defeated Tyson Steele (10-2) by 1st round rear naked choke submission

Over quick. Carl sinks it in and that's all she wrote...time 1:32.

 Jacob Volkmann (16-4) defeated Lyle Beerbohm (21-3) by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

 Right to the ground with Volkmann contolling as Beerbohm hugs the legs.  Volkman finally gets the back but Beerbohm fights back to standing.  Clinch on the cage. Ref seperates them. round ends uneventful.

Round 2- More clinch. Repeat of first round. Seperated again. More clinch. End to a slow round.

Round 3- Beerbohm comes out swinging....volkmann takes it to the ground again. He gets the back,limited action on the mat. He's got the rear naked on but can't cinch it in. Lot of hugging, no action. Beerbohm refuses to give in but time winds down, That's how it ends....another bout to the scorecards.

  

Justin Gaethje (9-0)  defeated Brian Cobb (20-8) by 3rd round TKO

Good action. Cobb taking the back for much of and the end of the round.

Roud 2- Exchange of flurries. J.G. stuns Cobb, who's left eye is swelling. Crowd gets behind J.G.but Cob ties him up.  J.G lands some in the clinch.

Round 3- Cobb takes an accidental to the groin. after a break, he comes back and presses. toe-to-toe even exchanges.  cobb stuns him, land some jabs, but J.G pulls it out with a some kicks that stuns Cobb. His right leg is wobbly. The ref steps in and its over. Finally a stoppage. Time of stoppage 2:19.

 

Preliminary Bouts: 

  

Jerrod Sanders (12-1) defeated Jeff Smith (10-2) by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Sanders with the take down. Smith back up...but Sanders takes it to the mat again. Back up again. Down again, but no real damage onthe ground. Sanders wrestled his way to winning the opening round.

Round 2- More on the ground, Sanders is wearing him down in uneventful fashion. Smith comes back strog, and lands a hard left. Its back to the mat as Smith makes a move.  Smith on top now but again the pace slows. the round mercifully comes to an end.

Round 3- Sanders takes control again, back to the mat. More uneventful laying and praying...the ref stands it up. Aother sanders take-down. More love on the ground. Like all the fights before this one, its off to the scorecards.

 

Dan Lauzon (17-4))defeated  John Gunderson (34-15)  via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Tight opening round. Good back  and forth. Scored for Lauzon by MMA DIRT.

Round 2- Big take-down by Lauzon,  who steps up and rains some blows from above. They're both back up, Lauzon presses the action. Gunderson's nose is bleeding heavily, but the pace keeps busy. Gunderson goes for take-down but is stuffed. Big right by Lauzon as the round ends.

Round 3- Lauzon is ahead on the cards. He lands a couple of nice kicks. Gunderson is cornered on the cage. Lauzon stuffs another take-down and this fight is nearing and end. Fatigue setting in for Gunderson as he is in desperation mode. Lauzon comes in with some nice combos and flying knees,  but can't put it away.

 

Carson Beebe (14-2) defeated Joe Murphy (6-1)   via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Some bantamweight action starts out with a good exchange in the center of the cage.  Beebe pushes the action and scoops up a take-down, but Murphy gets the fight right back to standing. Another take-down by Beebe. Not much action on the mat, but Beebe scrambles for position. Murphy reverses it for a second, but Beebe is back up. Back to the mat with Beebe in full mount.  He switches to half and drops a few elbows in. Murphy fights back and is trying to sink in the choke, but Beebe powers out and fiishes the opening round on top.

Round 2-  Good back and forth action. This is becoming a barn-burner.

Round 3- Lots of ground aciton. Murphy raining some punches on the mat. Beebe stands it back up. Clinch on the cage. Round wears down and this one goes to the cards.

  

Krasimir Mladenov (10-0) defeated Kendrick Miree (5-1) via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Two undefeated middlweights giving battle. Round one started with some feeling out. Clich on the cage with Mladenov relentsely going for the take-down. Miree keeps it upright and comes out firing. Miree pushing the action....now Mladenov again goes for take-down against cage. Action is tied up unitl the end of the opeing round.

  

Round 2- Center of the cage, more feeling out. Miree stuffs a take-down. Action slows considerably. Mladenov with a flurry, but its short lived. More dancing in the center of the cage. Mladenov again presses the action against the cage and finally gets the take-down. He's not doing much damage but he has position. No action and the ref stands them up. Miree missed on a kick and Mladenov scores another take-dwon the end the 2nd round.

 

Round 3- Both fighters are looking a tad winded. Domination in the 3rd and final round may spell the victor in this contest. Both  fighters come out swinging but it quickly goes back to a feeling out. More dancing in the cage as the clock winds down.  Mladenov keeps tryinng for the shoot but Miree keeps it upright. It looks like this uneventful bout is going to the score cards.

  

Brenson Hansen (5-1) defeated Josh Montalva (2-2) via unanimous decison (30-27, 3--27, 29-28).

 

Good back and forth action in the opening bout. Two spry featherweights, with lots of movement. Hanson took control in the 2nd and 3rd rounds with a solid ground game to grind out the unanimous decision victory in the first fight of the evening,
