Although Tim Elliott didn’t get the win in an entertaining bout with Zach Makovsky on Saturday, he provided a .gif-worthy highlight as he sent his opponent airborne.
In a UFC Fight Night 60 preliminary-card bout, Elliott (10-6-1 MMA, 2-4 UFC) wowed Broomfield, Colo.’ 1STBank Center – and the FOX Sports 1 TV audience at home – after wrestler Makovsky (19-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) repeatedly took him to the mat.
But in the third and final round, with Makovsky clinging to his back in a sort of upside-down piggyback, Elliott got back to his feet and then catapulted the tangled mess of fighters in an attempt to break free.
Elliott couldn’t shake him free, and he went on to a lose a unanimous decision via 29-28 scores, but the nifty slam earned him some kudos, which might help him avoid a contract termination despite a third-straight loss.
