After an incarceration, court hearing and eventual jail release, Jon Jones closed out a busy day with a trip back to the gym.
On Thursday, the former UFC light-heavyweight champion struck a plea deal and subsequently was released from jail following his recent arrest on a probation violation stemming from five traffic citations, including drag racing (watch footage of the police encounter below).
Although UFC officials are “disappointed” with Jones’ latest legal issues, his upcoming fight is still a go: Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) rematches light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier (17-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who claimed the vacant belt when “Bones” was stripped of it in 2015 due to a hit-and-run arrest, in UFC 197’s championship headliner.
The event takes place April 23 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, and Jones vs. Cormier II closes out the pay-per-view main card.
Hours after his release from jail, Jones was back in the gym, according to Jackson-Wink MMA’s Instagram account (watch the video above).
As he wrote: “Won’t let nothing disturb my peace. Right back to work.. Round five out of seven. Them Ramen noodles got me feeling right.”
