UFC on FOX 8 start time, fight card, TV schedule, media events and video preview

The UFC heads to Seattle on Saturday (July 27) for UFC on FOX 8. Here’s the essential information for fight week.

UFC ON FOX 8 START TIME: UFC on FOX 8 takes place Saturday at KeyArena in Seattle. The FOX-televised main card kicks off at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). Additionally, FX airs six prelims (5 p.m. ET), and Facebook streams two (5 p.m. ET).

UFC ON FOX 8 BACKGROUND: After an injury forced him out of a planned title fight at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in June, challenger John Moraga (13-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) gets his chance to claim the UFC flyweight title from reigning champion Demetrious Johnson (17-2-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) in UFC on FOX 8's main event. It’s the second straight title fight for a FOX-televised card, and for Johnson, it comes just eight days after the birth of his son. Additionally, in a potential title eliminator, top contenders and rivals Jake Ellenberger (29-6 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and Rory MacDonald (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) meet in the night’s co-headliner.

UFC ON FOX 8 WORKOUTS ON WEDNESDAY: The UFC is hosting two sets of media events this week. Wednesday’s open workouts are open to the public. They take place at KeyArena’s Seattle Center Pavilion (401 First Avenue N.), and doors open at 11 a.m. PT. Featured fighters include Johnson, Moraga, MacDonald and Ellenberger, as well as fellow main-card fighters Robbie Lawler, Bobby Voelker, Liz Carmouche and Jessica Andrade. Autograph and photo opportunities are usually available for fans.

UFC ON FOX 8 MEDIA SESSION ON THURSDAY: In addition to Wednesday’s open workouts, the UFC is hosting a Thursday media session with fighters, though it’s closed to the public. However, MMAjunkie.com will be on scene and reporting from the session, which takes place at The Westin Seattle. Attendees include all eight main-card fighters, as well as Michael Chiesa and Jorge Masvidal, who meet in UFC on FOX 8's featured preliminary-card fight.
