UFC Fight Night and Super Bowl LI will share a weekend in Houston

The UFC has announced a return to Houston, and the event will share a weekend – and a host city – with Super Bowl LI.

With a simple tweet, the organization confirmed an event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4. It takes place on the eve of the Super Bowl, which is scheduled for Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium.

In an email to MMAjunkie, a UFC official confirmed it’ll be an FS1-televised UFC Fight Night event at Toyota Center. The UFC traditionally hosts major pay-per-view events on Super Bowl weekends, but in 2017, it appears FS1 will instead play host.

Here’s the announcement (via Twitter):

No fights have been announced for the card, which is likely to be UFC Fight Night 104.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Dec. 16, and matchups will be announced in the coming weeks, a rep said.

To date, the UFC has hosted four shows in Houston, including “UFC 192: Cormier vs. Gustafsson” in October 2015. They’ve all taken place at the 17,000-seat Toyota Center.
