UFC Fight Night 44 bonuses: Swanson, Stephens, Borg, Carlos Diego Ferreira get $50,000 awards

SAN ANTONIO – Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens, Ray Borg, Carlos Diego Ferreira each earned $50,000 bonuses for their work at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 44 event.

Headliners Swanson and Stephens earned “Fight of the Night” honors, and Borg and Ferreira took home “Performance of the Night” awards.

UFC officials announced the winners after the event, which aired on FOX Sports 1 from San Antonio’s AT&T Center.

Swanson (21-5 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Stephens (23-10 MMA, 10-9 UFC) slugged it out for 25 minutes, with Swanson ultimately picking up a pair of 49-46 scores and a 48-47 to take a unanimous decision victory in the main event. Swanson’s win was his sixth straight at featherweight, and may result in a title shot against the winner of champ Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes at UFC 176 in August.
