LONDON – MMAjunkie was on scene for today’s official fighter weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night 37, where all 20 fighters successfully made weight for Saturday’s card.
In the main event, Alexander Gustafsson (15-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) could earn another shot at the light heavyweight title if he gets past Jimi Manuwa (14-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC). A win for the Swede is likely to set up a shot at the winner of champ Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira.
Both Gustafsson and Manuwa were on their marks, with Gustafsson coming in at 204 pounds and Manuwa at 205.
And in the co-main event, Melvin Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) meets Michael Johnson (14-8 MMA, 6-4 UFC) in a lightweight fight. Johnson took the fight on short notice after Ross Pearson pulled out with a knee injury. The fight between Pearson and Guillard was to be a rematch from a no-contest from this past October.
Guillard weighed in at 156, while Johnson was 155. The two then had a reasonably tense staredown in front of UFC President Dana White.
Alson on the main card, Brad Pickett (23-8 MMA, 3-3 UFC) drops to flyweight for the first time to meet promotional newcomer Neil Seery (13-9 MMA, 0-0 UFC). Each fighter was on the button at 125 pounds.
Today’s weigh-ins took place at O2 Arena in London, the same venue that hosts Saturday’s card. The four-fight main card streams on UFC Fight Pass at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT) following six prelims on Fight Pass (12:30 p.m. ET).
