UFC Exec "We Thought We Were Going to Die" During Conor McGregor Bus Attack

Things got a little bit scary on Thursday afternoon as an entourage led by UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor crashed a UFC 223 press event. Videos were snapped of McGregor breaking the windshield and side window of a bus carrying some of the event's fighters, an act that could get him into serious trouble with the New York State Athletic Commission, or maybe even the NYPD.

While the incident itself was a strange thing to behold for folks on the outside, it was quite jarring for those on the inside according to UFC executive Reed Harris.

"At hospital with one of my coworkers. Possible broken hand due to attack by Conor and his gang of thugs," he said in a now-deleted tweet (which has been preserved by MMA Junkie). "I got cut and showered with glass. We thought we were gonna die."

In addition to Harris' account, UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa (who was slated to compete Saturday night) was reportedly taken to the hospital to receive treatment. UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas was "shaken up" but ultimately fine and will remain on the card.

While many questioned whether Harris' account was exaggerated, footage shot inside the bus by fighters shows a scary scene before the vehicle left the venue (warning, NSFW language):

There are no reports of any serious injuries and to this point, the only change to the UFC 223 card is the removal of McGregor's teammate, Artem Lobov, from his scheduled preliminary card bout.

That said, this is an important chapter in the developing story about McGregor's return. What punishment he receives and what sort of legal issues follow this, could make a huge impact in his ongoing contract negotiations.
