It’s a new year and a fresh start in the staff (and reader) picks, and our first event of 2016 features a crackerjack of a headliner.

In Saturday’s UFC 195 pay-per-view headliner at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, two crowd-pleasers tangle for the ultimate prize when welterweight champion Robbie Lawler (26-10 MMA, 11-4 UFC) meets challenger Carlos Condit (30-8 MMA, 7-4 UFC).

Among our staff picks, six of the nine – including 2015 season champ Dann Stupp – are picking Lawler to defend his title in a fight that the sportsbooks list as a near-coinflip.
