LAS VEGAS – The champ needed five minutes to get warmed up, apparently, but then it was indeed “Showtime.”
Anthony Pettis (18-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) had a rough first round of his first lightweight title defense against Gilbert Melendez (22-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at UFC 181 on Saturday. But in the second, he was able to take over, eventually submitting the challenger with a slick choke.
Check out the video highlights above from the fight at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view after prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
