LAS VEGAS – Conor McGregor probably added a bunch of new fans to his hype train on Saturday, but it’s hard to argue with his results.
McGregor (16-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC), a brash Irishman, stopped Dustin Poirier (16-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in the first round with a TKO – just as he said he was going to do before the fight. Poirier complained that some of the punches that finished him were to the back of the head, and while a some strayed close, McGregor had Poirier hurt before that and poured it on.
Check out the video highlights above of the fight, which took place at UFC 178 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
