February’s UFC Fight Night 104 event in Texas has a new strawweight addition.
Tecia Torres (7-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Bec Rawlings (7-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC), who first met on “The Ultimate Fighter 20,” have agreed to the matchup.
The fighters announced the matchup via Twitter following an initial report from couriermail.com.au.
UFC Fight Night 104 takes place Feb. 4 at Toyota Center in Houston. The card airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Torres is No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s strawweight rankings. Rawlings isn’t ranked.
Torres and Rawlings met in the opening round of the “TUF 20” tournament, which crowned the UFC’s inaugural women’s strawweight champion. Torres earned a narrow decision win but was eliminated by eventual show winner Carla Esparza in the quarterfinals.
Torres, though, appeared on the undercard of the show’s live finale. The former Invicta FC fighter defeated Angela Magana, and it kicked off the 27-year-old’s three-fight UFC winning streak (all via decision), which also included victories over Angela Hill and Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger. However, in her most recent bout, she suffered a decision loss to Rose Namajunas.
Rawlings, meanwhile, suffered a loss to Heather Jo Clark on the undercard of the TUF 20 Finale before rebounding and posting back-to-back wins over Lisa Ellis and Seo Hee Ham. However, in her most recent outing, the 27-year-old Australian suffered a stunning knockout loss to Paige VanZant.
