TUF 20 Finale results: Aisling Daly taps Alex Chambers with armbar

LAS VEGAS – Aisling Daly looked for submissions early and often in her bout with Alex Chambers, and with just seven seconds left in the opening round she managed to snag one.

After suffocating Chambers (4-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the mat for most of the round, Daly (15-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) locked up an armbar from mount to force the tap, notching a submission win in her UFC debut.

The women’s strawweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale event at The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional prelims and a main card on FOX Sports 1.

Daly was by far the more dangerous fighter from all positions on the floor, putting Chambers, her castmate on “TUF 20,” on the defensive almost immediately with an armbar attempt off her back in the opening moments. Although Chambers would eventually escape that threat, it allowed Daly to go from bottom to top, where she stayed for most of the rest of the bout, gradually wearing down Chambers with her suffocating ground game.

Only once did Chambers manage to escape from a dominant position and return to her feet. Even then, Daly quickly took her back down, moving to mount and locking in the finish. Chambers gamely tried to resist the armbar at first, but once Daly got it where she wanted it, there was nothing left to do but tap.

For Daly, the win makes it two in a row in pro bouts. Chambers loses a pro bout for the first time since March of 2012.
