TUF 19 Finale results, photos: Derrick Lewis brutally stops Guto Inocente in first

LAS VEGAS – Derrick Lewis (11-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) again proved he is a wrecking ball with fists as he took out highly touted prospect Guto Inocente (6-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in the first round.

Inocente was bowled to the mat by Lewis and pounded unconscious when he exposed his chin in a grappling transition.

The heavyweight bout was part of the main card of today’s TUF 19 Finale event at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The fight’s end came at the 3:30 mark of the first round. Referee Herb Dean intervened as Inocente’s head bounced off the canvas from several hard right hands thrown by Lewis.

Brazil native Inocente, who returned to the cage after three years on the sidelines due to injury, was rolling from his side to his back when he took the punches that knocked him out. He was later seen asking referee Dean what had happened.

Lewis’ physicality was on display early in the fight as he muscled Inocente to the cage and tried to land bombs. Inocente tried to reset, but was bowled to the mat when he threw a leg kick. He tried to escape the position and was instead pounded out.

Lewis picks up his second straight UFC win after a first-round stoppage of Jack May in his octagon debut at UFC on FOX 11. Inocente, a Strikeforce veteran who trains with the Blackzilians, sees his return spoiled and takes his first loss since 2007.
