Ronda Rousey Reportedly Inks Lead Roles in Warner Bros Films “Entourage” & “Athena Project”

Ronda Rousey UFC 157As if she wasn’t already a white-hot property in the MMA world, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is quickly attracting Hollywood opportunities like a magnet.

Rousey filmed Expendables 3 and Fast and Furious 7 in the lead-up to her fight with Miesha Tate at UFC 168, and now has two more major motion pictures in the offing.

Warner Bros. has tapped Rousey for a lead role in the movie-version of the hit HBO series Entourage, and has also put in a bid for the Brad Thor penned novel Athena Project, which would also come with Rousey attached as a star of the potential movie franchise.

News of Rousey’s upcoming Warner Bros. offerings was reported on Thursday by Variety.com, and bolstered by Rousey’s sharing of the article on social media.

Athena Project is a book about an elite U.S. counter-terrorism unit that is sent after a terrorist that executes a bombing in Rome that kills 20 Americans. Obviously, there is potential for a series of sequels if the film is successful.

Rousey next steps in the Octagon on Feb. 22, when she puts her UFC title on the line against fellow Olympian Sara McMann, but then heads into filming for her role in Entourage in mid-March.

Athena Project does not currently have a screenplay yet, so the schedule for filming for that movie is not yet set.

Rousey is quickly becoming as hot of a property in Hollywood as she is in the Octagon, and she is taking full advantage of the opportunities presented her.
