Resurrection Fighting Alliance Signs 2008 Olympic Wrestler Fredy Serrano to 8-Fight Deal

2008 Olympian Fredy Serrano has signed an eight-fight contract with the Resurrection Fighting Alliance.

Sherdog.com confirmed the signing with RFA officials on Thursday, though a debut date for the flyweight prospect was not disclosed. RFA officials revealed that the Octagon MMA rep owns a pro MMA record of 2-0, but those victories are as-yet undocumented by the Sherdog Fight Finder.

Serrano, 34, represented his home country of Colombia at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing 14th in the 121-pound (55 kg) class that was conquered by unbeaten MMA prospect and Legacy Fighting Championship flyweight Henry Cejudo. The Beijing Games proved to be fertile soil for what would become a string of success for American wrestlers in mixed martial arts. Cejudo, Daniel Cormier, Ben Askren and Randi Miller have all been perfect in MMA, while heavyweight Steve Mocco owns a record of 4-1.

The promotion will hold its next event April 11, when RFA 14 takes place at the City of Cheyenne Ice and Events Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. The evening’s main draw airs live on AXS TV and is headlined by a flyweight title confrontation pitting ex-contender Matt Manzanares against Brazilian prospect Leandro Higo.
