Report: Former Dallas Cowboy Greg Hardy aiming for MMA career

Greg Hardy remains a free agent, but the troubled former Dallas Cowboys defensive end apparently has a new profession in mind: MMA.

Hardy, who served a ban over a domestic violence incident in May 2014, has been training at a Dallas-area gym for months and promoters have already expressed interest, MMAFighting.com today reported.

“I’m very focused and excited to start my MMA career,” Hardy told the website. “I’m going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that.”

Hardy, 28, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance in Texas last month, his most recent run-in with law enforcement. Hardy was initially convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in July 2014, but the charges were dropped after the alleged victim refused to testify in the appeal.

That didn’t stop the NFL from suspending Hardy for the first 10 games of the 2015 season, although an arbitrator reduced the ban to four games.
