Two red-hot bantamweights will meet at UFC Fight Night 50, as Chris Beal faces Rob Font.
UFC officials announced the bout on Thursday evening.
Beal (9-0) followed up an injury-plagued stint on Ronda Rousey’s The Ultimate Fighter 18 team with a successful Octagon debut at UFC 172 in April. Less than two minutes into the second round, Beal floored Patrick Williams with a flying knee and scored a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
Font (11-1) was just as impressive in his first fight under the UFC banner. He debuted at UFC 175, where he knocked out George Roop 2:19 into their fight. Font also secured a $50,000 bonus for his efforts.
Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Gegard Mousasi moved earlier this week from the cancelled UFC 176 fight card to UFC Fight Night 50, where it will serve as the night’s headlining bout.
UFC Fight Night 50 takes place on Sept. 5 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn.
