These are what the hands of an (almost) champion look like after a five-round battle. Of course, as Johny Hendricks wrote: “U should see the other guy lol.”

Hendricks (15-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) dropped a razor-thin split decision to welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (25-2 MMA, 19-2 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 167 pay-per-view headliner in Las Vegas. This morning he tweeted a picture of his hands, which out-struck St-Pierre 142-105, according to FightMetric. Worth noting, though, is that St-Pierre actually landed more significant strikes (101-85).

While Hendricks had barely a scratch, St-Pierre showed up to the post-fight press conference with a badly swollen face and small cuts under both eyes. Despite his 47-48, 48-47 and 48-47 victory, the champ – who now holds the UFC record for most career victories – paid for it.

While it’s not proof Hendricks deserved the victory, nearly every major media outlet (including MMAjunkie) scored the fight for 48-47 the challenger, according to MMADecisions. That’s why, despite St-Pierre’s apparent personal issues and planned hiatus, UFC President Dana White believes a rematch is in order.
