ONE FC continues to improve both the depth and the quality of its roster with another seven new signings announced Thursday, including former Legend FC champions Koji Ando and Adrian Pang and undefeated Englishman Christian Holley.
Shinya Aoki is expected to mount at least one defense of his lightweight belt before dropping down to 145 pounds and three of the new signings will be immediate contenders to face him because Ando (8-3-2), Pang (20-8-2) and Holley (10-0) are all coming off impressive wins.
In Ando’s most recent fight, he claimed the 155-pound title of the now-defunct Legend FC by beating reigning champion Jadamba Naruntulalag, who suffered a serious ankle injury early in the third round.
Pang also held the Legend FC 155-pound title, but lost it when he suffered a split-decision defeat at the hands of Jadamba after an epic back-and-forth war. He was out of action for over a year following that loss, but bounced back to stop fellow Australian Jai Bradney in his most recent outing.
Holley brings the most impressive record of any of the new signings. The Englishman, who grew up in Spain, comes from a background in Karate and BJJ and has four submission wins and four KO/TKO wins to his name.
Hiroshige Tanaka (10-1) signed with ONE FC on the back of a seven-fight winning streak and the Shooto veteran will be an immediate contender for the 145-pound belt, which is currently held by his compatriot Koji Oishi.
The other signings announced are Dubai based Filipino lightweight Vaughn Donayre (7-1), Japanese Brazilian light heavyweight Cristiano Kaminishi (8-1-2), and Irina Mazepa, a Russian Wushu champion who will be making her pro MMA debut in the 125-pound division.
