The show takes place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M., and airs live on Fox Sports 1, headlined by lightweight showdown pitting former champion Benson Henderson against Rustam Khabilov.
Sherdog.com first reported that Narvaez had signed with the UFC and withdrawn from a planned Legacy Fighting Championship middleweight title bid against Bubba Bush, and TXMMA.com reported the Cummins matchup on Thursday. The fighters subsequently confirmed the matchup via Twitter, though the UFC has yet to officially announce the bout.
Narvaez, 30, has won six straight fights to begin his pro career, finishing his first five opponents via knockout or submission. “The Silverback” made his Legacy FC debut last September, scoring a split decision win over Hayward Charles at LFC 23.
Previously a standout wrestler at Penn State, Cummins began his MMA stint with four consecutive victories before making his Octagon debut on short notice against Daniel Cormier. That UFC 170 encounter resulted in a quick finish for “DC,” as the American Kickboxing Academy product dispatched Cummins in just 79 seconds.
