UFC officials confirmed the matchup Sunday evening via Twitter. UFC 154 takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal and is headlined by a welterweight title clash between champion Georges St. Pierre and interim titleholder Carlos Condit.
Ring suffered the first loss of his professional career to Tim Boetsch at UFC 135, but the Calgary, Alberta, native rebounded to earn a unanimous verdict over Court McGee in July. Ring, who made headlines prior to UFC 149 for his role in rescuing two people from attack in his hometown, also owns Octagon triumphs over James Head and Riki Fukuda.
After losing a unanimous decision to Nick Catone in his debut at UFC 128, Philippou (Pictured) has reeled off four straight wins in the Las Vegas-based promotion. The Serra-Longo Fight Team member has bested Jorge Rivera, Jared Hamman, McGee and Fukuda in succession since the loss to Catone.
