‘Mayhem’ Miller Criticizes Diaz, Team, Stockton

Cesar Gracie, Diaz’s trainer, has said the Strikeforce 170-pound champion would be willing to meet Miller at a catch-weight of 178 pounds. Miller typically fights at 185.

“They’ve started spitting out, ‘Oh, 178.’ Meanwhile back at the ranch, Nick Diaz is saying, ‘I’ll fight middleweight. I’ll fight middleweight.’ OK, well, just not against me, right? That’s how it is,” Miller said recently during an appearance on the Sherdog Radio Network’s “It’s Time! with Bruce Buffer.”

Diaz fought 179-pound catch-weight bouts against Frank Shamrock and Scott Smith, beating them both. In an interview with MMAJunkie.com, Gracie said it doesn’t make sense to accommodate Miller’s preference to fight at middleweight when he’s the one calling out a champion.

“He’s bologna, this guy. These guys don’t want to fight me,” Miller responded. “He doesn’t want to fight me, so now he’s like making it, ‘Oh, Mayhem turned down the fight.’ I didn’t turn down a fight. I never got offered a fight.”

Miller and Diaz are two of the most outspoken fighters in the sport. Miller believes the matchup would generate more interest than Diaz’s recent win in a rematch over K.J. Noons.

“We’ve got an outstanding beef,” Miller said. “They trumped up this beef with him and K.J. Noons -- it was a 4-year-old beef. Man, Tito Ortiz was smashing Ken Shamrock back in the days they had that beef. This beef is brand-spanking-new. Let’s do it now. Let’s do it now. Stockton is a bunch of sissies.”

By calling out Stockton, a hometown Diaz prides himself on coming from, Miller clearly still wants the fight. He said he’s eager for it to come together somehow.

“I’m at the table,” Miller said. “I’m at the table with a plate of yams, sitting there ready to spank his ass, but he doesn’t want to come to the table. He wants to sit in his bedroom with Cesar Gracie and cuddle.”
