Marcos Galvao anticipates short night of work at Bellator 108

marcos-galvao-1.jpgGaining cage time is important for the growth of any fighter’s career, but tonight at Bellator 108, Marcos Galvao intends on spending as little time in the cage as possible.

“I picture this fight as a fast finish,” Galvao told MMAjunkie. “I’m going in there and getting out. I will definitely win.”

Galvao (14-6-1 MMA, 4-3 BMMA) faces Tom McKenna (7-3 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in one of Bellator 108's featured bouts from The Revel Atlantic City in New Jersey. The event airs on Spike TV with preliminary card action streaming on Spike.com.

After a second-round knockout loss to Eduardo Dantas in his last Bellator appearance in February, Galvao is focused on getting back under the promotion’s win column. The fight with Dantas was an emotional one as it pitted pupil against teacher, and the older Galvao came out on the losing end. The result was disappointing for the Brazilian, but he says it didn’t fracture his relationship with his longtime student.

“I’m disappointed in the outcome of my fight with Eduardo Dantas; I didn’t show what I know I can,” Galvao said. “I have nothing against him, but he is another opponent in my division. Nothing is different between Eduardo and I. I started well and after a while got careless – that’s what went wrong. I let my emotions take over.”

Despite the knockout loss the last time he entered the Bellator cage, Galvao says fans should expect the same fighter who impressed his way to the Season 6 bantamweight tournament crown.

“I won’t change my fight style,” Galvao said. “I’m always going to be an aggressive fighter. That’s my style: always moving forward and looking for the finish. “The fans can expect to see the best Marcos Galvao ever, moving forward and looking for a finish from beginning to end.”

Thus far in his Bellator career, 31-year-old has fought in two tournaments. He has won one and lost one, and now he’s hoping to work his way back into another tournament and believes the third time will be the charm. “My motivation is to get a title shot and another chance to be the Bellator champ.”
