Legacy FC 16 Adds Antonio Banuelos-Ryan Benoit, Two Other Bouts to Dec. 14 Card

Legacy Fighting Championship 16 continues to take shape, as the promotion recently announced that a trio of bouts has been added to its Dec. 14 event.

WEC and UFC veteran Antonio Banuelos meets Ryan Benoit in a 130-pound catch-weight bout. Additionally, Charles Byrd clashes with Chad Leonhardt at welterweight, while Alex Russ squares off with Klayton Mai in another 130-pound affair.

Legacy FC 16 takes place at the Allen Events Center in Allen, Texas, and the event’s main card airs on AXS TV. The card’s headliner pits Will Campuzano against Jimmy Flick for the promotion’s flyweight strap.

Before he locks horns with Benoit, Banuelos will step in the Legacy FC cage against Joshua Sampo on Sept. 14 in Houston. The 32-year-old Pit representative last competed on Dream’s New Year’s Eve Card, where he earned a split decision over Masakazu Imanari before suffering a first-round TKO defeat to Bibiano Fernandes in the promotion’s bantamweight tournament. His lone Octagon appearance came at UFC 126, where he dropped a unanimous verdict to Miguel Torres.

A Janjira Muay Thai representative, Benoit owns a pair of first-round victories under the Legacy FC banner, submitting Cody Williams at LFC 11 and knocking out Randy Villareal at LFC 13. “Baby Face” has finished all five of his career triumphs by technical knockout or submission.
