Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice Tested Positive for Steroids Following Bellator 149

Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice Tested Positive for Steroids Following Bellator 149

Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice each tested positive for banned substances following their respective bouts at Bellator 149. And on Monday, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, as first reported by MMAFighting.com, confirmed that both men had anabolic steroids in their systems.

Shamrock and Slice helped Bellator shatter viewership records, drawing an average of 2 million viewers to the Feb. 19 broadcast on Spike TV, but now face the specter of testing positive to steroids.

Kimbo Slice and Ken ShamrockShamrock, who lost to Royce Gracie in the controversial main event, tested positive for nandrolone, a steroid, and methadone, an opioid, and also showed an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio. Shamrock’s T/E ratio was 12.4:1, which is well above the World Anti-Doping Agency limit of 4:1.

Slice also tested positive for nandrolone and showed an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio. His T/E ration was 6.4:1. Slice won a lackluster bout with fellow former backyard brawler Dada 5000 (real name Dhafir Harris).

While the TDLR has yet to confirm any sanctions for the positive drug test results, MixedMartialArts.com, the official record keeper for the Association of Boxing Commissions, has already changed the result of Kimbo’s fight with Dada 5000 from a victory for Kimbo to a no contest.
