UFC officials recently announced the pairing, which takes place July 27 at Seattle’s Key Arena. The evening’s main draw airs live on Fox’s flagship network and will notably feature a pivotal welterweight showdown between Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger.
Kedzie, 32, rides back-to-back defeats into her showdown with de Randamie, though “Fireball” nearly bested Miesha Tate back in August before the former champion pulled out a third-round armbar finish. A product of Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., Kedzie owns notable wins over Kaitlin Young, Sarah D’Alelio and Jan Finney and has yet to be knocked out in 27 pro fights.
De Randamie, meanwhile, made her MMA debut in 2008 after a decorated career as a kickboxer. “The Iron Lady” joined the Strikeforce roster in 2011 and knocked out Stephanie Webber with a knee in her promotional debut before dropping a unanimous verdict to Julia Budd later that year. Most recently, the 28-year-old got back in the win column by earning a decision over former Smackgirl open-weight champion Hiroko Yamanaka on Aug. 18.
