Rising Australian light heavyweight James Te Huna will get his chance to shine in the limelight on Wednesday night when he faces the returning Joey Beltran in the chief support fight to the Chris Weidman vs. Mark Munoz UFC on Fuel TV 4 headliner in San Jose, Calif.

“This is the biggest fight of my career,” Te Huna said in a recent interview. “Being the co-main event is my big chance to make some noise. There are going to be a lot of people watching.”

Te Huna has certainly impressed in his short four-fight UFC career. The 30-year-old Australian possesses deadly hands accounting for three stoppage victories versus one loss to Alexander Gustafsson early last year, in a fight Te Huna could have won if it weren’t for a brain snap in front of his home fans.

Te Huna, who has had his fair share of injuries, got back on the pedestal with an impressive first-round finish of Aaron Rosa at UFC on FX 2 in Sydney in March. He was originally due to face Brandon Vera UFC on Fuel TV 4, but the injury bug bit, elevating Vera to the main event of the upcoming UFC on Fox 4 fight card against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Te Huna still gets his chance to build his name against a well known veteran in ‘The Mexicutioner,” who fought at heavyweight for all of his career before stepping down in weight after being cut from the UFC earlier this year after suffering back-to-back losses.

No matter who the opponent is, Te Huna has one plan and that is to put Beltran away. He wants to make a statement to the other fighters at 205 pounds that he is the man to beat.
