The April 16 event takes place at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City and is headlined by a pivotal middleweight confrontation pitting Tim Kennedy against Michael Bisping. The evening’s main draw airs live on Fox Sports 1 and will also see onetime Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman face Shayna Baszler in a women’s bantamweight duel.
Roop, 32, had a two-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing this past November, when he was knocked out by Francisco Rivera at UFC Fight Night 31. Prior to that setback, Roop posted consecutive victories to kick off 2013, outpointing Reuben Duran before stopping ex-WEC champion Brian Bowles last May at UFC 160.
Kimura, 24, suffered the lone setback of his career in his sophomore UFC appearance after debuting in the Octagon with a third-round submission of Chico Camus one year ago. “The Diamond” rebounded from his September defeat to Mitch Gagnon last month, scoring a first-round submission over Jon delos Reyes at UFC Fight Night 34 in Singapore.
