Ex-champ Gael Grimaud meets Bruno Carvalho at Cage Warriors Fight Night 9

Former welterweight champion Gael Grimaud (17-6) is set to fight fellow contender Bruno “B.C.” Carvalho (15-6) at Cage Warriors Fight Night 9 in October.

Officials today announced the bout.

Cage Warriors Fight Night 9 takes place Oct. 25 at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town, Bahrain, which also hosted Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 in May 2012. The main card streams on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) for North American viewers. The prelims streams on Facebook.

Grimaud vs. Carvalho is the first fight announced for the fall card.

Grimaud fights for the first time since losing his title to Cathal Pendred in March. The Frenchman’s decision loss halted his eight-fight winning streak, which included a May 2012 title win over Jesse Taulor and a series of victories in other European promotions.

Carvalho, meanwhile, recently rebounded from his own loss to Pendred with a March knockout of Steven Dinsdale. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is now 10-2 since 2009, and the only losses came to Pendred and former DREAM champ Marius Zaromskis.
