Demetrious Johnson Says He Would Fight Conor McGregor in TMZ Interview

Despite a huge weight difference, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson revealed he would be willing to take on reigning lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

Johnson discussed the potential fight in a video released by TMZ Sports on Tuesday (warning: contains NSFW language):

Johnson fights at 125 pounds, which is roughly 30 pounds less than McGregor weighed for his last bout against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

Johnson told TMZ that facing McGregor is the likeliest way for him to earn a seven-figure payday and noted it would be easier to get the bout scheduled than the McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. boxing match, which has been in the works for months.

Johnson boasts a 26-2-1 career record, and Mighty Mouse is on a major roll with 10 consecutive title defenses, including a submission win over Wilson Reis at UFC Fight Night on Saturday.

McGregor is 21-3, with his last victory coming via a second-round knockout in November.

The Irishman is the unquestioned top draw in the UFC with Ronda Rousey out of the picture, and any fight he takes part in is a significant moneymaker.

Johnson is arguably the most dominant fighter in the UFC, and a bout with McGregor would be among the most highly anticipated contests in recent memory regardless of what weight class it takes place in.
