Bellator 106 Ticket Sales Show Majority Were Complimentary or Unsold

Bellator 106 had 4,189 tickets sold, with 5,855 tickets going unsold, according to information received by MMAWeekly.com from the California Department of Consumer Affairs on Thursday.

Of the total amount of tickets printed for consumers, 2,407 were complimentary, which represented over 36 percent of those in attendance.

The total attendance, including purchased and complimentary tickets, was 6,596.

A CDCA official would not reveal the total gate revenue for the event, but based off of a document obtained by MMAWeekly.com, which showed the number of tickets sold and cost for each section, the estimated gate is just under $359,000.

Bellator officials did not respond to a request for comment at the time of this publication.

Bellator 106 became the highest rated show the MMA promotion ever put on in terms of television numbers. For its broadcast on Spike TV, Saturday’s event drew an average of 1.1 million viewers and peaked at 1.4 million viewers during the Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez main event rematch.

Company CEO Bjorn Rebney explained that the ratings were a large success for Bellator, and he anticipates more of the same with fight cards going forward.

“I’m not much for predicting exactly where numbers will hit or what we’ll do,” Rebney told MMAWeekly.com earlier this week, “but I’m anticipating we’ll do real strong numbers this Friday night.”

Bellator’s next card takes place on Friday, Nov. 8, in Oklahoma. The card, dubbed Bellator 107, is headlined by former UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo fighting Peter Graham in the heavyweight tournament final.
