All UFC 142 Fighter Drug Tests Negative, Says UFC’s Marc Ratner

All eight drug tests conducted following UFC 142 came back negative, according to UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner.

Sherdog.com confirmed the results with Ratner on Wednesday. UFC 142 marked the promotion’s second trip to Brazil in a five-month span and was headlined by a featherweight title bout between reigning 145-pound kingpin Jose Aldo and challenger Chad Mendes. Aldo continued his reign of dominance by knocking the powerful wrestler flat with a perfectly timed knee at 4:59 of round one.

Aldo and Mendes were drug tested following their main event, as were six other fighters chosen at random whose identities were not disclosed. The fighters were screened for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse. When holding events in locations without athletic commissions, the UFC pays for the independent drug testing of its fighters.

UFC 142 took place Jan. 14 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, also the location of the UFC’s August return to Brazil following nearly a 13-year absence. The promotion is rumored to return to the country in June for a middleweight title rematch pitting Anderson Silva against Chael Sonnen.
