Alejandro Perez not sure what to think of UFC Fight Night 86 greasing allegations

ZAGREB, Croatia – Alejandro Perez survived the leg locks of Ian Entwistle on Sunday at UFC Fight Night 86.

However, Entwistle made it clear he felt Perez’s success was the result of operating outside the rules, and he accused his opponent of greasing his legs.

Entwistle (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) repeatedly made the accusations during the fight, and he continued it after Perez (17-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) forced him to submit to punches at the 4:04 mark of Round 1.

The bantamweight bout was part of the UFC Fight Night 86 preliminary card at Zagreb Arena in Zagreb, Croatia. Like the main card, it aired on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

“I worked hard to prepare a defense for the leg locks,” Perez told MMAjunkie following his victory. “When he attacked my legs, I stayed on top, punching, punching, punching. … I don’t know what to think because I’m not a cheater. I play fair play. I don’t know what to think.”

Perez has won back-to-back fights and is 7-2 since 2012. That success puts him in an enviable position in a bantamweight division wanting for fresh young challengers.

For now, the 26-year-old Mexican fighter will leave the decisions up to the organization, but he said he’d like a reasonably quick turnaround.

“I would like to fight in July or August,” Perez said. “I don’t know. I will wait for the call. Whatever the UFC says.”
