Carina Damm Has Surprises in Store En Route to Titan FC Bantamweight Title

Heading into her bout with Sarah Alpar in her Titan FC debut in June, veteran Carina “Barbie” Damm knew that the fight was going to be a difficult one.

Alpar, for her part, was riding a two-fight winning streak, while Damm had lost back-to-back bouts for the first time in three years, yet she was able to implement her game plan well enough to pick up a unanimous decision victory.

“It was a very hard fight,” Damm said to MMAWeekly.com through an interpreter. “I already knew she was going to come with everything at me. But thank God everything turned out okay.

“I tried to fallow all my instructor’s directions and tried to block all of (Alpar’s) moves. I tried to do what I could.”

Over 10 years into her MMA career, Damm still approaches the sport with open eyes, and believes that she’s improved a great deal along the way.

“Every fight I have, I fight like it’s the first one,” she said. “Even though I’m experienced, every fight, I find new difficulties I have to overcome. Every fight I have is just like a brand new one.

Carina Damm“I’ve changed a lot. My fighting has become a lot better.”

Damm (23-12) will look to get a matter of revenge when she takes on Kalindra Faria (17-5-1) in a rematch of their 2013 bout when they meet at Titan FC 41 in Coral Gables, Fla., in the evening’s bantamweight championship main event.

“My instructors are worried about making me stronger, and the rest is a surprise for (Faria),” Damm said. “It’s more exciting (being for a title) than any other fight. I really want the title in my house.”

After going through some rough patches the past few years, Damm is still eager to prove herself and excited for the opportunities that have yet to come in her career.

“I’m never going to get to where I want to be,” she said. “I’m always going to want more.

“I want to thank all of my fans and all the cheering they’ve done. I’m counting on them to be there (on Sept. 9) because I’m going to make a great show for them.”
