Rising UFC star Cody Garbrandt: Business as usual at Team Alpha Male, despite drama

TOKYO – A war of words between Team Alpha Male head Urijah Faber and ex-coach Duane Ludwig has made its way around the Internet.

But UFC bantamweight Cody Garbrandt (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) said it’s business as usual inside the gym.

“You guys all know that in the media, how that’s going,” Garbrandt told MMAjunkie. “But it’s the same. We’re there every day, and we grind it out.”

Faber and Ludwig have lobbed accusations at each other in the media over Ludwig’s tenure as Team Alpha Male’s head coach. Faber blasted the ex-UFC fighter’s behavior and professional demeanor while Ludwig said the ex-WEC champ and UFC bantamweight didn’t live up to his word.

All in all, it’s been a game of he-said he-said, but for Garbrandt, who in July outpointed Henry Briones at UFC 189, it doesn’t have much to do with what the team is doing now.

“We’re doing the same thing before Duane was here, while he was here, and after he was here,” he said. “We’re still Team Alpha Male.”

Check out the above video to get Garbrandt’s thoughts on calling out John Lineker and how he feels about once being labeled as “Paige VanZant’s boyfriend.”
