World Series of Fighting 5 TV Ratings in Line with Promotional Average

WSOF Logo on Slate-110x77The World Series of Fighting seems to have found its television audience.

Last Saturday’s WSOF 5: Arlovski vs. Kyle drew an audience of 227,000 viewers on NBC Sports, according to the Nielsen TV ratings. That falls in the range of the promotion’s five-event average of 220,000 per event.

The WSOF 5 TV ratings represent a slight drop-off from WSOF 4, which notched the promotion’s best draw at 264,000 viewers, but it was still good enough for the second best spot.

World Series of Fighting 5 featured former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski winning a unanimous decision over Mike Kyle.

The show also featured the semifinal round of the promotion’s four-man middleweight championship tournament. David Branch defeated Danillo Villefort on one side of the tournament bracket, but the other bout – between Elvis Mutapcic and Jesse Taylor – was a last-minute scratch by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board.

The bout between Mutapcic and Taylor was called off after an NJSAC official allegedly witnessed Mutapcic swallow prescription medication prior to the fight. Mutapcic denied ingesting anything.

WSOF 5 took place on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Revel in Atlantic City, N.J.
