'UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson' start time, fight card, TV info and media events

It’s fight week again for the UFC, and on Saturday, the organization returns to pay-per-view with UFC 165 and a championship doubleheader.

Here’s the essential information for the weekend show.

UFC 165 START TIME: UFC 165 takes place Saturday at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. The night kicks off with prelims on Facebook/YouTube at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT before a move to FOX Sports 1 for additional prelims (8 p.m. ET). Then, the pay-per-view main card kicks off at 10 p.m. ET. The lineup includes 13 bouts in all.

UFC 165 BACKGROUND: UFC 165 features a rare championship doubleheader with two titleholders looking to set UFC records. One, though, is more a bit more dubious than the other. In the headliner, UFC light-heavyweight champion and pound-for-pound kingpin Jon Jones (18-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) looks for his sixth consecutive title defense – which would pass Tito Ortiz for the most in divisional history – when he faces Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson (14-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC). Additionally, interim bantamweight champion (30-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC), who’s patiently awaited the return of injured champ Dominick Cruz, looks to become the first fighter to defend an interim belt twice when he meets inaugural WEC 135-pound titleholder Eddie Wineland (20-8-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in the co-headliner.

UFC 165 OPEN WORKOUTS THURSDAY: In lieu of a press conference or open workouts, the UFC is hosting an “ultimate workout day” on Thursday. The event, which takes place at Toronto’s Shangri-La Hotel, is closed to the public. However, we’ll have full coverage throughout the afternoon. Attendees include Jones, Gustafsson, Barao, Wineland, Brendan Schaub, Matt Mitrione and UFC President Dana White.

You can watch a live video stream or get text-only results beginning at 4 p.m. ET. We’ll also have a video replay and full photo gallery available afterward. Prior to the weigh-ins, UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman hosts a Q&A session at 3:15 p.m. ET. We’ll also have a live stream of the chat.
