UFC Veteran Matt Riddle Meets Artenas Young at Legacy Fighting Championship 21

Former UFC welterweight Matt Riddle will make his Legacy Fighting Championship debut on July 19, when “Deep Waters” squares off with Artenas Young at LFC 21.

LFC officials announced the booking on Friday night’s new episode of “Inside MMA” on AXS TV, the cable network which will also carry the LFC 21 main draw live from Houston’s Arena Theater. In addition to Riddle’s promotional foray, the event will additionally showcase a pair of title fights in the middleweight and bantamweight divisions, according to an official announcement on the LFC website.

Riddle, 27, has never before competed outside the UFC, cutting his teeth on “The Ultimate Fighter 7” before making his professional debut at the show’s live finale in 2008. A registered medical marijuana patient in Nevada, Riddle was recently cut by the UFC after testing positive for marijuana metabolites twice in his last three fights, spoiling what would have been a four-fight winning streak. Like his July victory over Chris Clements, Riddle’s Feb. 16 win over Che Mills was also changed to a no-contest, prompting his UFC release last month.

Young, meanwhile, has alternated wins and losses in his last four outings, posting a 1-1 record in the LFC cage last year. “Machine Gun” was last seen in October, when he earned a four-second technical knockout over two-fight pro Brandon Mitchell under the Immortal Kombat Fighting banner.
